La Plata County Airport, just a few miles southeast of Durango, offers connections to Albuquerque (NM), Denver (CO), Phoenix (AZ), as well as winter service from Houston (TX). Connections to the rest of the country may be made at any of these airports.

Durango is along US 160, about 60 miles west of Pagosa Springs and 46 miles east of Cortez. It is about 40 miles north of Aztec and Bloomfield (NM) on US 550.
