Gunnison Colorado - Biking

A large number of mountain biking trails snake through the terrain surrounding Gunnison, mainly in the Elk and West Elk Mountains to the north.



Deadman Gulch Mountain Biking Trail Advanced 20 mile loop 2 to 4 hours
Deadman Gulch is a challenging trail with frequent steep segments and great high altitude riding through a variety of terrain.

Deer Creek Mountain Biking Trail Intermediate

29 mile loop 3 to 5 hours
The Deer Creek Trail is a fun loop ride that offers stunning views of the Elk and West Elk Mountains. Some tough ascents are countered with miles of gliding singletrack through majestic groves of aspens.

Lost Canyon Mountain Biking Trail Intermediate 24 miles 3 to 4 hours
The Lost Canyon Loop Trail climbs from the town of Gunnison along a spur of the Colorado Trail. It offers a variety of riding options, from steep rocky climbs to mesa-top riding through aspen groves.

McIntosh Loop Mountain Biking Trail Intermediate

This beautiful trail winds its way through a variety of terrain types as it follows old jeep roads showing off outstanding views of the Gunnison Valley and the West Elk Wilderness.

Strand Hill Mountain Biking Trail 8 mile loop
The Strand Hill trail is a short loop ride with a few steep sections that heads through some beautiful mountain terrain and groves of aspen.

Wager Gulch Mountain Biking Trail Intermediate 9.6 miles round trip 2 to 2.5 hours
Wager Gulch is a rough four-wheel drive route leading to Carson, the best preserved ghost town in the San Juans. The trail continues up to the Continental Divide where hiking or mountain biking is possible in almost every direction.
