Northwest of Colorado Springs near Lake George.
The trailhead to the Platte River Trail is located 1 mile past Happy Meadows Campground before the Sportsmen's Paradise gate.
The trailhead is well marked and there is plenty of parking space available.
Description
Trail provides access to Platte River for fishing. Be aware of the private land. This trail also provides good opportunities for day hiking. The South Platte River enters a steep, rocky, picturesque canyon, just after the trail returns to the river.
Trail construction is still continuing in the vicinity of the Platte River Trail's intersection with the Platte Springs Trail. The Platte Springs Trail provides access out of the canyon via a steep climb.
