Description
Lumpy Ridge is a beautiful and rugged climbing destination in northern Colorado near Rocky Mountain National Park. Thickly wooded with spruce and pine trees, this predominately trad climbing destination is renowned as being better than most of the major climbing spots in the state like Eldorado Canyon or the Flatirons.
The granite rock here is exceptionally solid taking it easier on the nerves but harder on the fingers. The fixed gear is also well maintained. Climbing at the ridge nine times out of ten gives up amazing views over the forest surrounds and is a great place to introduce folks to trad climbing. The cracks are notorious for being flared at certain walls making the climbs surprisingly hard but there are many easy routes to climb that are safe and fun. Difficult and committed multi-pitch climbs are also readily available so finding a climb to suit one's needs will be the easiest part of climbing here.
