Though high in the mountains, Idaho Springs is sheltered by the skyscraping mountains around it, and has a surprisingly mild climate. Though there is lots of snowfall in winter, the above-freezing temperatures mean that there is rarely more than an inch or two of snow on the ground. In summer, Idaho Springs is pleasantly warm, with the low humidity and mountain breezes keeping the town from feeling hot even when the temperatures reach the 80s.
