Description
Horsetooth Reservoir is definitely one of the best and most powerful bouldering playgrounds in Colorado. An early destination to climbing greats of the 70's, one can see how hardcore the beginnings of the sport was with many of the classic problems being a bit tall and hard to protect with a crash pad.
Bouldering at the reservoir is often a very pleasant experience with cool breezes during the summer and an easy way to cool off. Located in the foothills west of Fort Collins, Horsetooth Reservoir is 1,900 acres of water surrounded by 2,000 acres of public land. It attracts other recreationalists for fishing and water-skiing so seclusion is not really the point here. The area is made up of multiple small areas, the best of which being Rotary Park with about 60 problems.
