  • Breckenridge Ski Resort

Breckenridge is one of the state's most popular ski resorts, with over 145 runs tailored mainly for advanced skiers.   • Conway

While it's only a short drive from the beaches and golf courses of Myrtle Beach, Conway seems worlds away. Huge moss-draped live oak trees offer a canopy of shade to the streets, and majestic old homes never fail to make a stately impression.

Harrodsburg, Kentucky's oldest town, was the first permanent English settlement west of the Allegheny Mountains. Neighboring town Danville, a small college town, bills itself as a quiet alternative to bigger cities. Historic sites dot these two towns in central Kentucky.

Idaho Springs is a well-preserved mining town that today has become a popular tourist spot. The breathtaking scenery of the Rockies can be enjoyed at a number of nearby scenic drives, state parks, and other recreation areas.

  • Keystone Resort

Keystone is a large resort near the Frisco-Dillon area that offers some of the best and most varied skiing in the state. Skiers and boarders can sample progressively more difficult terrain as they make their way back into the resort's three large mountains -- Keystone, North Peak, and the Outback.

  • Lexington

Drive past horse farms with green meadows on the way into Lexington in north central Kentucky, and you'll know why the city is called "The Horse Capital of the World." Located on a gently rolling plateau of bluegrass fed by small creeks, Lexington is a college town with lots to do and plenty of outdoor fun.

  • Myrtle Beach

Over the last several decades, Myrtle Beach has become known for its one hundred plus golf courses. Families can rent nice condos on the ocean for reasonable prices, and spend their days basking in the sun, playing in the usually warm Atlantic Ocean, or building sandcastles. Afternoons and evenings offer a multitude of things to do.

  • Pawleys Island

Pawleys Island is truly a treasure for those looking to relax. This is a small, somewhat laid-back community that has less than 500 year-round residents. Its narrow roads feature quaint beach cottages, sand dunes, and the occasional bicyclist. Its 3.5 miles of beach is a simply wonderful place to take a leisurely walk, or merely relax under an umbrella. Crabbing and fishing are cherished pastimes.

  • Richmond/Berea

Along the I-75 corridor in central Kentucky lie two college towns, each different and each worth a stop. Richmond, home to Eastern Kentucky University, has college town amenities plus historic sites from pioneer and Civil War times. Berea, home to Berea College, is the "Folk Arts & Crafts Capital of Kentucky" with an abundance of artists' studios and galleries.

  • Vail Ski Resort

Vail. Vail. There's No Comparison?. The largest ski area in the United States. Consisting of three major areas, each itself the size of a regular ski resort, Vail offers dozens of trails for all experience levels.

  • Winter Park

Winter Park Resort is one of the closest ski areas to Denver and is a favorite of locals. Located in the scenic Fraser Valley high in the Rocky Moutains, this state-owned park features reasonable rates and great powder.
