This trail is very popular with hikers and mountain bikers. There is no camping within 1/4 mile of the trail for the first 2 miles. There are several stream crossing on the lower part of the trail.

From Fort Collins take Highway 14 west 23 miles.
There is a dirt road leading back to the trailhead on the south side of the road, right across from the upper part of Ansel Watrous Campground.
