Winter Ridge Trail

Winter Ridge Trail climbs from the ridge to above Blue Hill to Castle Peak through mountain brush and spruce-fir-aspen forested land. The scenery is outstanding, with broad panoramas. Fishing is available in mountain streams, and wildlife watching is great.

 Directions to Trailhead

From I-70 at Wolcott drive north on the Colorado Highway 131 to the Colorado River Road (Eagle county 301) about two miles west of McCoy. Drive about 8 miles west on the River Road to Blue Hill Junction and then south about 2 miles to trail head. The trail connects to other trails in the Castle Peak Wilderness Study Area. Use limited to hiking and horseback riding; motorized vehicles are prohibited.
