Railroad Loop Mountain Biking Trail

The Railroad Loop Trail is an easy route suitable for riders of any experience level. The loop follows a narrow-gauge railroad grade through the scenic foothills of the southern La Plata mountains.


 The Basics

Location: East of Mancos, between Cortez and Durango
Technical Difficulty: Beginner
Aerobic Difficulty: Moderate
Length: 13.3 miles
Elevation: 1,100 feet
Time to Allow: 2 to 3 hours
Season: Year round


 Directions to Trailhead

From US 160, head 5.6 miles east of Mancos to Madden Peak Road. The trail begins one mile north of here on Forest Road 568 heading east. To complete the loop from the route's end, return west along US 160 to your starting point.
