Fishers can try their luck at any of the over a dozen lakes in the Denver metro area. A number of local city or state parks preserve the peaceful waters of the many lakes in this drainage area for the Platte River. Those who prefer fishing in a more rural setting can explore the mountain streams and lakes in the Front Range to the west of Denver.



Barr Lake Lake Size:  3 square miles   
Barr Lake is a popular state park near Denver, both a wildlife refuge for birds and popular with fishers as well.

Chatfield Lake Lake Size:  2.4 square miles   
Chatfield Reservoir offers boating and fishing in a relaxed environment with beautiful views of the nearby foothills.

Cherry Creek Lake Lake Size:  1.4 square miles   
The natural prairie environment of Cherry Creek Lake in the outskirts of the Denver metro area have made it popular with bird-watchers, boaters, campers, and other outdoors enthusiasts.

Eldorado Canyon
Eldorado Canyon State Park offers a mile-long stretch of creek fishing for rainbows and browns.
