This is Colorado's only real sand OHV area and it's 1400 acres in area, 800 of which are pure dunes. The trails begin in the sand, then go upward into a slightly more green area, sagebrush and aspen, before traveling back to dunes and lusher forest. This is a limited area, so do stay on the trails.

Additional Details:
You''ll need to bring a gallon of water per person and your own firewood if needed. There are three restroom buildings on site.
Basic Directions
    From Walden
  • Take Highway 125 northward, past Cowdrey.
  • Turn right onto County Road 6 and continue until you reach BLM Road #2509.
  • Turn right onto the BLM road and follow it into the recreation area.
