The Colorado begins to settle down after its tumultuous descent out of the high Rockies, and winds through beautiful mountain canyons and sandstone cliffs. That's not to say there's no excitement, however: some trips on this stretch contain rapids with names like "Pin Ball," "Rodeo" and "Needle's Eye."

These rapids are more exciting than dangerous, however, with the best of them rated Class III. Views of the Gore Mountain Range and Flat Tops Wilderness are striking from this region.

Raft outfitters offer trips ranging from half-day to multi-day excursions on this beautiful stretch of the Colorado.
