Description

This beautiful Byway travels around a 51-mile circle of rich farmlands and varied terrain. Nineteenth Century farmhouses spread out over the valley and Admire Mountain looks over them like a protective mother. And, old battlefields stand guard just in case.

This Byway forms a circle beginning in Summerville on Route 27. It travels along Gore-Sublings Road until it becomes Armuchee Road and then follows Route 136. It runs along Furnance Creek and Pocket Road which eventually becomes Everett Springs Road. Lovers Lane and Floyd Springs Road can be taken to reach the town of Floyd Spring. Finally, Route 27 leads back to the point of origin in Summerville.

Reflections of the Cherokee remain. Armuchee, one of the area's landmarks, is a Cherokee word for "land of flowers". In the spring, there's no better description for the valley when it is blanketed with a pastel panorama of wildflowers.

Hiking trails lead to overlooks that peer out as far as Alabama and Tennessee with camping and fishing along the way. Bass fishing in Marvin Lake is especially enjoyable, and productive, too! There are also a number of parks in the area that are worth visiting.
