The tallest point in Virginia, Mount Rogers, is the main attraction of the Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area. Primitive and modern camping facilities are available. Whitewater streams rush along the mountainside, and trails weave their way through the region providing excellent hiking and horseback riding opportunities. Geologists will thrill at the sedimentary deposits along the way, relics of an old sea.
