Description
A local favorite minutes from downtown, Boulder Canyon has a veritable ton of climbing with over 1,000 established routes. The huge range of climbing available is all on grippy granite and spread throughout a 13 mile stretch through the canyon. The variety of climbs including all types of sport and classic trad routes with beautiful scenery make this canyon a must-climb.
The best way to go bout tackling Boulder Canyon definitely is to get a guidebook (listed below). Many of the faces and crags are viewable from the road and would seemingly be easy to find from the pull-offs and parking lots but there are many trails all over the place and it can be confusing even after climbing there for quite some time. One of the more accessible and well bolted areas is called The Sport Park and is located all the way up the canyon at 12.5 miles. This area is more like a climbing gym outdoors with tons of bolts (for which it has been criticized) and around 60 different routes all of which one can walk off or top rope.
