Salt Lake City - Weather

Provided below is information on the general climate in Salt Lake City and the current forecast.

 Climate

Summers in Salt Lake are generally warm, with average highs near 90, though the mountains are generally 15-20 degrees cooler. Autumns are wonderful with mild temperatures and spectacular colors in the mountains. You can call the "Color Hotline" at the Red Butte Arboretum (801-581-5322) for current information.

Winters bring huge amounts of snow to the mountains (500 inches). The city gets much less snow (about 60" a year) and temperatures are relatively mild. Spring is generally pleasant though unsettled, with rapid changes in temperature and sudden showers. (About spring they say, "if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes.") The snow usually melts in the lower mountain elevations by May, though trails remain wet for awhile afterwards.Average high and low temperatures are set out below.
