Prater Ridge Trail

This 7.8-mile trail begins on the west end of Morefield Campground and follows a large switchback up to the top of the ridge. From there, it takes you along the edge of the ridge providing views of the Montezuma Valley, Prater Canyon and Morefield Canyon. This trail is a great place to get away from the summer crowds while strolling through a mature pinion - juniper forest.

Mesa Verde National Park entrance is 9 miles east of Cortez on US Hwy 160. Morefield Campground is 4 miles inside the park.
