Description

Lodore Canyon is definitely the most beautiful stretch of the Green River! You'll marvel at the high vermilion-colored cliffs contrasted by bright green Box Elder trees along the beaches. Lodge Pole pine and Douglas Fir are seen on the high ledges and canyon rim. Mountain sheep, deer and other wildlife abound. You can almost hear the whisperings of outlaws, trappers and explorers of bygone days.

There's plenty or excitement, too! Lodore Canyon has rapids with names like Disaster Falls, Hell's Half Mile and Triplet Falls. The average descent is one foot per mile above Disaster Falls and the greatest rate of descent is at Hell's Half Mile which is a drop of 30 feet in less than a half mile. The Green River is sustained by the dam at Flaming Gorge Reservoir. This maintains the river flow at a navigable level throughout the spring and summer months.

This trip is the ideal vacation for families—time well-spent together enjoying all that this wonderful area has to offer.
