Colorado River State Park offers camping at Island Acres, 5 miles east of Palisade and 30 miles further west at Fruita. Both areas provide a choice of full hook-ups, electric hook-ups or tent camping. Coin showers and laundry are also available from early spring through fall. A camping fee is required in addition to the daily or annual vehicle pass. Full service sites with electric, water and sewer $20/night; electric hook-ups $16/night; and tent sites $12/night. Both campgrounds are open year round. Reservations are available from Feb. 18 through the end of September. Reservations may be made three to 180 days in advance. Reservations are available online through Reserve America or by calling 1-800-678-CAMP, or from Metro Denver (303) 470-1144. There is an applicable $8 non-refundable reservation fee for all reservations.
