Description

The Mushroom Rock area is part of the Red Hill Recreation Area and located on BLM lands, featuring some of the best mountain biking trails in the Carbondale area. Views from the Mushroom Rock area are excellent with expansive vistas of Mt. Sopris and the town of Carbondale.

Trails in the Mushroom Rock area are targeted to riders of differing ability levels; some trails are very technical with rock gardens, steep climbing and other obstacles and others are more rolling and suited for advanced beginners and above. Trails climb a plateau and then roll atop it through a combination of high plains, open forest and desert like riding.

Suggested trails in the complex include Three Gulch, Blue Ribbon, Roller Coaster and Fairie Trail. Due to the complexity of the trail systems, a map of the area is suggested for full enjoyment. Trails are well signed.
