Description

The Jones Downhill trail offers excellent singletrack downhill riding in the Pikes National Forest to the west of Colorado Springs.

Jones Downhill can be ridden in two fashions. The first involves a car shuttle, which cuts out most of the climbing on the ride. The second involves no car shuttle and adds 12 more miles to the ride and over 2000 vertical feet of climbing.

The access route to the Jones Downhill begins at the gold camp parking area. Shuttles and adventurous riders take gold camp road to the Old Stage Road or RD379 on the right. Shuttles and riders should take RD 379 up to the top of the downhill. Riders not opting for the shuttle should note, RD 379 features a short technical climbing section with loose gravel.

Trail 701, located to lookers right at the top of the climb on RD379, is the start of the Jones Downhill trail proper. The downhill is fast and fun, with sections of exposed ridge riding and neat rock features mixed with smooth singletrack. The ride can be taken into the Chutes trail system if riders are willing to ride back uphill to the Gold Camp parking area.
