Description

Deer Creek Trail is an epic ride in the Crested Butte area. Covering almost 30 miles of terrain, Deer Creek Trail features steep and challenging climbing at high elevations and a long downhill. Riders here will be treated to miles of amazing singletrack with sections that are rocky and root bound.

Weaving through aspen groves and pine forest, Deer Creek Trail is a great trail for riders looking to explore the mountains around the area. Starting in Crested Butte, Deer Creek Trail hovers between 9000-10,600 feet and features excellent views of Whetstone Mountain, Gothic and Mt. Emmons, all peaks over 12,000 feet.

While riding any trail system it is a great idea to include a repair kit and first aid kit. Deer Creek Trail is a multi-use trail and hikers, horseback riders, vehicles and other trail users may be seen along the way. Please be considerate on the trails and understand right of way protocol. Deer Creek Trail is located in high elevation mountains and can experience sudden weather shifts, so riders should bring appropriate warm layers in anticipation of this.

Basic Directions

From Crested Butte, go south on 135. Turn left on Brush Creek Road. Brush Creek becomes dirt. Continue about 5 miles to West Brush Creek Road. Park here and start riding. Follow signs to Deer Creek Trail. A trail-map does come in handy here.
