Description

Camping is permitted at undeveloped sites along the trail. Camping is recommended 300' of any trail or stream. Use no-impact camping techniques. Campfire permits are not required but please be sure your fire is dead out before you leave. Pack it in / Pack it out rule applies. Respect other trail users.

Foot and horse trail. Motorized vehicles are prohibited. This trail is a moderately difficult 2.5 mile trail with an elevation change of 800 feet.

This trail leads to "The Crags", a group of rock pinnacle formations. This is a good cross country ski trail.

Temperatures are about 15 degrees cooler than Colorado Springs. Afternoon thunderstorms are common throughout the summer.

Drinking water is not readily available. Water from streams should be treated before use. Hikers are advised to carry an adequate supply.

Basic Directions

SECTION OF TRAIL BETWEEN FDT #667 AND FDT #701. 1. From Colorado Springs, take Hwy 24, through Woodland Park, to Divide. Turn south on Hwy 67. Drive 4 miles. Turn left on Forest Service Rd. #383. Approximately 2.5 miles down the road is the Crags Campground and trailhead. Parking is available at the east end of the campground and this is where the trail begins.
