Description
Though there are several challenging sections for those seeking thrills, on the whole the Colorado is a mild river that winds through beautiful mountain valleys and spectacular scenery. Passing through red sandstone canyons rising hundreds of feet on either side, the river winds through many remote and isolated areas that are only easily accessible by boat. The connection to nature and sense of solitude is strong, making multi-day trips popular with those seeking to get away from the bustle of daily life. Animals such as ducks, geese, deer, and eagles can all be seen from the river, along with sweeping vistas of the American Southwest.
Numerous outfitters offer trips on the Colorado River. Short half day trips to overnight multi-day trips are available.
