River Length
12 miles
Time:

Season:

Description

One of the most popular sections of the Arkansas for rafting, Brown's Canyon winds along the east edge of the Sawatch Range, with occasional glimpses at some of the state's highest peaks from the granite canyon walls.

The rapids here are exciting, with imaginative names like Zoom Flume, Widowmaker, and Toilet Bowl, but not as dangerous as those farther up the river. Seven major rapids plus long stretches of whitewater create an exciting ride suitable for the whole family.

Brown's Canyon begins just south of Buena Vista, and the take-out point is north of Salida.
