Description

The Kingston Peak road crosses an above-treeline bench at 12,000 feet elevation for spectacular views of nearby James Peak, as well as more distant views of Longs Peak to the north to Mt. Evans to the south. The elevations means there is snow until late in the year so the season is short. Much of the distance is on the high-clearance 2WD Apex Road. About 8 miles is true 4WD, with some quite steep, rocky sections near the top. The road passes the trailhead for the James Peak Lake and Ute Trails, and also a trail to James Peak.

Visit Page, Arizona Visit Page, Arizona Visit Page, Arizona
Some places are famous. Others are vast. Page, Arizona is your doorway to both — and the Center of the Grand Circle of National Parks. Begin with the icons that earned the world’s attention: Horseshoe Bend, Lake Powell, and Antelope Canyon. Then stay longer. From here, guided journeys into Navajo Nation reveal landscapes shaped by culture and story. Rainbow Bridge rises from the canyon floor. Vermilion Cliffs glow at sunset. Buckskin Gulch winds for miles. Grand Staircase-Escalante unfolds to the north, while Monument Valley and the Grand Canyon lie within reach. Page itself is intentionally small. What surrounds it is anything but. Choose guided adventure or quiet exploration. Seek luxury or solitude. Return each evening to comfortable lodging, thoughtful dining, local shops, breweries, and golf with unforgettable views. This is not just a stop along the way. It is the place to begin — at the Center of the Grand Circle of National Parks.
