Hermosa Creek trail is a perfect choice for fit mountain bikers looking for a challenge in the Durango area. The Hermosa Creek trail is considered to be an epic in the area, long and arduous. The trail gets steep enough in areas that hiking with the bike is necessary.

Hermosa Creek trail is over 20 miles long one way and connects Hermosa with Purgatory-Durango Mountain Resort. Hermosa Creek trail features miles of fantastic singletrack riding, allowing riders to explore the mountains and soak in the expansive mountain vistas in a way that only an epic cross country trail can. Due to its proximity to Durango, this ride tends to be a popular one on weekends. In addition, a vehicle shuttle is required for this ride.

Hermosa Creek Trail is multi-use so riders may encounter hikers, trail runners and other users and should follow right of way protocol when meeting other groups. Hermosa Creek Trail accesses high elevation terrain and sudden weather shifts are possible; riders should bring appropriate warm layers in anticipation of this. In addition, riders should be prepared with a stocked repair kit and a first aid kit. This is a very long trail and riders should be well stocked with food and water!
