As Vista Verde turns to "Vista Blanca” there are more ways to enjoy the outdoors in this special part of the West. Vista Verde’s ski program offers something for everyone.

Track Skiing

Our 30km of groomed trails around the ranch are great for classic and skate skiing and even snowshoeing. The terrain is varied, with some easy trails mixed in with a bit of good steep climbs for the go-getters. Grab some gear and head out before breakfast for a sunrise ski or just get out there and enjoy the trails during the day when you just want to cruise. Our guides are happy to take out beginners and help them figure out the ropes or give pointers for those looking to improve their technique. We have first-class, complimentary equipment for all the different kinds of skiing, and we can outfit you with just the right gear. So come explore and enjoy!

Backcountry Skiing

There is a perfect balance between invigorating exercise and relaxing tranquility when you are out in the backcountry on skis. It creates a feeling not found in any other situation, on that is difficult for us to put into words. Most of our winter guests come here planning on skiing the groomed track, then trying our many other activities. Most of the time, however, once they take their first backcountry tour, they are hooked for good.

Whether you are a novice or an accomplished powder hound, you will find your personal paradise somewhere on the thousands of acres of National Forest that surround us. You can ski on a frozen lake, across an open meadow, through the aspens or pine groves, at the bottom of a ravine with dramatic rock outcroppings, or up a mountainside, then down the other side. The views and vistas and the sounds of silence are fabulous.
