The Arkansas River runs through Pueblo, settling down after a 6,000 foot descent from its headwaters high in the Rockies. Most raft runs are farther upstream, near Canon City about 50 miles to the west. Though less popular, there are also more tranquil float trips offered to the east in the Great Plains area.
