Phil's World

Phil’s World encompasses some of the best riding in the Cortez area. Phil’s World is trail system with options for a variety of skill levels on well packed singletrack surfaces. There is some technical riding sections on several of the trails in Phil’s World, though the majority of the area is known for fast and fun, smooth and roller coaster like riding.

Climbing in Phil’s World is a workout, but the trails are not so steep that riders have to hike. A map is definitely a needed tool in this area, easily acquired at any bike shop in Cortez, to make for a fun and exciting riding with little navigational frustration.

 Some More Things to Know

Phil’s World biking area is multi-use so riders may encounter hikers, trail runners and other users and should follow right of way protocol when meeting other groups. It is suggested that riders frequent this area in the early morning during the summer months due to heat. In addition, riders should be prepared with a stocked repair kit and a first aid kit.





 Directions to Trailhead

From Cortez, head east on Highway 160. After two miles there is a shooting range on the left. A quarter mile further there is a turn-off with parking on the right. This is the trailhead for Phil’s World.
