Pawnee National Grasslands
|
These grasslands stretch for nearly 200,000 acres throughout Weld Country. They are one of Colorado's birding paradises and migration is their best time to bird. Look out for the lark bunting, Colorado's state bird, in the spring and summer, and birds of prey are generally common. Several plains animals such as the coyote and the prairie dog are not hard to find, either, and they all roam within those high grasses and wildflowers and buttes.
