Basic Directions

The Horn Creek Trailhead may be used to access North Colony by going south on the Rainbow Trail for 3.6 miles or the South Colony Road may be used. Take highway 69 south out of Westcliffe for 4.5 miles to County Road 119 (Colfax Lane). Turn left on to CR 119 and follow it till it ends then turn right, this is the South Colony Road. There is trailhead parking on the right after about one mile. The road beyond this point requires 4wd and high clearance. The Rainbow Trail crosses the road about 2 miles up. Follow the Rainbow Trail north 2 miles to the North Colony Trail. The trail accesses the North Colony Lakes and is 3.8 miles. The trail is moderate for hiking.
