Dolores River Up to Class IV

The Dolores River flows for more than 200 miles through the beautiful slickrock canyons of the southwest, before joining the Colorado River near Moab, Utah. It features some challenging rapids, but is mostly known for exquisitely beautiful red rock desert canyons.


Dolores River - Gateway Canyon Up to Class IV

The Gateway Canyon section covers the final miles of the Dolores River as it crosses into Utah and joins the Colorado River. The river makes a final descent through the technical challenges of the long Stateline Rapid.


Dolores River - Paradox Canyon / Mesa Canyon Up to Class IV

Just north of the town of Bedrock is a geological oddity called Paradox Valley, where the Dolores River intersects a canyon at right angles. After this the river plunges into Paradox Canyon, with exciting rapids, before traveling at a more leisurely pace through further canyons to the north.
