Medano Pass and Great Sand Dunes Trail
|
The Medano Pass / Great Sand Dunes Trail is a scenic route passing through a variety of terrain. The road up the east side of the Sangre de Cristo range switchbacks to Medano Pass, then descends into the San Luis Valley, crossing some streams along the way as it approaches the sand dunes. The views of the dunes from the south end of the road are magnificent, but the sand can be difficult to negotiate a vehicle through.
