Livingston

The town of Livingston (pop 7000), located at the transition between the massive Absaroka mountains and the Paradise Valley, was once a favorite haunt of such western characters as Calamity Jane and is now a popular hide-away for the rich and famous. Livingston is best known for its excellent access to the blue-ribbon Yellowstone River with its bounty of world-class trout fishing. Visitors, however, will find great opportunity for a plethora of other recreation activities around this area. Livingston makes a great side trip destination for those visitors wanting to escape the hectic pace of summer in Yellowstone National Park, located only a short drive to the south.

Livingston can be reached easily off of I-90 from the east or west and from I-94 through Gardnier from Yellowstone National Park. There are a good number of accommodation and dining options in Livingston and the town supports a healthy number of western style saloons that are popular evening destinations for locals and visitors alike.
