La Junta Colorado Travel Information

The grasslands and gently rolling hills around La Junta mean bikers can cover great distances on day trips. Exploring the history of the region is easy on a bike, as a number of pioneer and Native American ruins are scattered throughout the area, as well as petrified dinosaur tracks.

Picket Wire Canyonlands Mountain Biking Trail Intermediate 10.6 miles round trip (to dinosaur tracks) 1.5 to 2 hours
Along this canyon route through the prairie buttes of eastern Colorado are the nation's largest documented dinosaur tracksite, Native American rock art, and the remains of 19th century homesteads.
