Judith Basin

Lewistown is a picture perfect Montana mountain town, located along Big Spring Creek, with its early-20th century architecture well framed by three different mountain ranges, the Judith Mountains, the Big Snowy Mountains and the Moccasin Mountains. Lewistown is located in the heart of the Judith Basin area of central montana, an area of grassy, fertile plateaus surrounded by isolated mountain ranges that abrubtly jut from rolling plains. Visitors will find the area surrounding Lewistown is full of good hiking trails, creek & lake fishing, historic mining ghost towns and amazing vistas. Visitors will also find Lewistown supports a rather strong and thriving cultural side and plays host to a nationally accolated Cowboy Poetry Festival every summer.

Lewistown can be reached in about an hour's side excursion off of both I-90 by Big Timber and I-15 through Great Falls. There is also a small municipal airport served by Montana Airlines, a puddle jumper operation that travellers can utilitze to shave off some time. Visitors will find many lodging and dining options in Lewistown to match any budget.
