John Martin Reservoir State Park offers boating, camping, and fishing opportunities in southeastern Colorado. Sun-baked beaches surrounded by sagebrush, yucca and tamarack trees are near the main reservoir. Cottonwood trees provide plentiful shade near the shore of Lake Hasty. John Martin Reservoir is also a great place to view wildlife such as deer, antelope, raccoons and prairie dogs. Bird watchers can see vultures in the spring and bald eagles in the fall.
