  Boulder is a growing city a short way northwest of the Denver area, at the base of the Flatiron foothills of the Rockies. Home to the University of Colorado, Boulder's is near Rocky Mountain National Park and several Front Range wilderness areas.
     
Denver Population: 2.5 million
  Denver is the crossroads of the West, the capitol of Colorado and the largest city in the region. The picturesque Rocky Mountains form the backdrop to this bustling city known for its colorful history, proximity to some of the nation's best skiing, and active art community.
     
Georgetown Population: 1,000
  Georgetown is a scenic little town nestled in a mountain valley west of Denver. Though only a mile from the interstate, the distance means Georgetown is less crowded than the neighboring resort towns. Old mining trails and a ride on a restored narrow-gauge railroad are among the attractions in the Georgetown area.
     
Winter Park Population: 700
  Winter Park Resort is one of the closest ski areas to Denver and is a favorite of locals. Located in the scenic Fraser Valley high in the Rocky Moutains, this state-owned park features reasonable rates and great powder.
