Before the Upper Gunnison widens into Blue Mesa Reservoir, rafters can enjoy a gentle ride through Gunnison Valley. There are no dangerous rapids along this route, where the young river drifts through farmlands and groves of cottonwood trees. Launch and landing points are both near to the town of Gunnison, which offers a full range of services.
