A number of off-road routes exist near Glenwood Springs, mainly historical passes or roads to abandoned mining towns. Grand Mesa National Forest and the Elk Mountains to the south offer the largest number of roads, and there are some routes in the White River Plateau region to the north.

Cattle Creek Loop Intermediate

This trail is part paved surface and part gravel, but don't be fooled into thinking this is an easy ride.

Cedar Mountain

Coffee Pot Road Beginner

The gravel-top Coffee Pot Road is the main access to the Flattops Wilderness Area and connects to Transfer Trail near Deep Lake.

Deep Lake Loop/Transfer Trail Intermediate

This is a long, rough off-road trail and you should come prepared for some sweaty, thirsty hours and some tricky manuevering.

This trail is a rough 4WD single lane. Little Grand Mesa has steep stretches and is very muddy when wet.

Lookout Mountain Road Intermediate

This trail is actually CR 120 as it climbs from Spring Valley to the top of Lookout Mountain. The overlook is outstanding and there's an old campground at the end.

Red Canyon Road is a nice drive in its own right, but also makes an excellent hub trail.

Spring Valley Loop Beginner

Storm King Mountain Road is a single lane dirt road from Transfer Trail to the top of Storm King Mountain.
