Glenwood Springs Colorado Travel Information

The Colorado and Roaring Fork rivers meet in Glenwood Springs, and a few miles upstream the Eagle River joins with the Colorado. Also consider the hundreds of streams and tributaries draining into the river system, and the area is ripe for trout fishing.



Avery Lake
Avery Lake is a mid-sized body of water where visitors can fish for trout in pleasant and uncrowded surroundings.

Colorado River
The Colorado River starts from humble beginnings in north central Colorado to become one of the largest rivers in the state as it crosses into Utah. Wading, raft fishing, and shore fishing are all done at various points along its length.

Eagle River
The Eagle River, one of the upper tributaries of the Colorado, is easily accessible and has great trout and bass fishing.

Paonia Lake Size:  350 acres   
Paonia State Park's alpine streams and mid-sized reservoir in view of the majestic Ragged Mountains are popular with photographers and nature lovers.

Rifle Gap Lake Size:  350 acres   
Rifle Gap State Park is home to a variety of wildlife, as well as a 350 acre reservoir great for boating, swimming, and fishing.

Ruedi Reservoir Lake Size:  1.6 square miles   
Ruedi Reservoir is a mid-sized lake in the Frying Pan River Valley open to boating and fishing.

Sylvan Lake Lake Size:  40 acres   
Sylvan Lake is part of a very scenic state park open year-round for campers, picnickers, boaters, and anglers.

Vega Reservoir Lake Size:  1.4 square miles   
Vega Reservoir is a beautiful high-mountain lake on the west edge of Grand Mesa National Forest.
