Durango Colorado - Fishing

Near Durango are several lakes, reservoirs, and streams, stocked with several kinds of fish including trout, salmon, and northern pike. A Colorado fishing license is required; day passes may be purchased for about $5 at several Durango locations.



Animas River
The Animas River flows south out of the San Juan mountains, passing through Durango and into New Mexico. It is popular among anglers for its great trout fishing.

Mancos Lake Size:  216 acres   
Mancos State Park offers trout fishing and wakeless boating at reservoir surrounded by the majestic San Juan Mountains.

McPhee Reservoir Lake Size:  7 square miles   
McPhee State Park is a mid-sized reservoir near Cortez, with convenient access to the Dolores River.

Navajo Reservoir Lake Size:  24.4 square miles   
Navajo Reservoir offers 23 square miles of water for boating and fishing, surrounded by beautiful scenery and rugged desert landscape.
