Dinosaur Diamond Scenic Byway

Dinosaur Diamond Scenic Byway Dinosaur Diamond is named for the rough diamond shape of this remarkable area, stretching from Eastern Utah into Western Colorado. Scenic Byways abound in the Dinosaur Diamond. Some of the most pristine and awesome natural landscapes will take your breath away and create memories of a lifetime.

The Byway offers a unique opportunity for the public to visit archeological and fossil sites in their natural settings and to learn more through museum visits. Some museum descriptions are listed below.

Dinosaur National Monument: The quarry visitor center located north of Jensen, UT, preserves 1400 dinosaur bones, left in place as nature deposited them 145,000,000 years ago. The Colorado section of the park preserves the scenic canyons of the Green and Yampa rivers.

Utah Field House of Natural History: See 18 prehistoric animals in the Dinosaur Garden with a trip through modern and geologic time in the Utah Field House. The museum introduces you to the vast wealth of geology, paleontology, Indian prehistory and natural history of the Uinta area.
