Cortez Colorado - Whitewater Rafting

The raftable portion of the Dolores River, one of the longest stretches of undeveloped river in the state, begins just north of Cortez. Raft trips of up to two weeks may be taken along this beautiful river.

Dolores River Up to Class IV
Multi-Day
The Dolores River flows for more than 200 miles through the beautiful slickrock canyons of the southwest, before joining the Colorado River near Moab, Utah. It features some challenging rapids, but is mostly known for exquisitely beautiful red rock desert canyons.

Dolores River - Gateway Canyon Up to Class IV
Multi-Day
The Gateway Canyon section covers the final miles of the Dolores River as it crosses into Utah and joins the Colorado River. The river makes a final descent through the technical challenges of the long Stateline Rapid.

Dolores River - Paradox Canyon / Mesa Canyon Up to Class IV
Multi-Day
Just north of the town of Bedrock is a geological oddity called Paradox Valley, where the Dolores River intersects a canyon at right angles. After this the river plunges into Paradox Canyon, with exciting rapids, before traveling at a more leisurely pace through further canyons to the north.

Dolores River - Ponderosa Gorge Up to Class IV
3 day
A Ponderosa Gorge trip contains some of the most thrilling whitewater on the Dolores, including long stretches of rapids like 3-Mile Rapid and the infamous Snaggletooth.

Dolores River - Slickrock Canyon Up to Class III
Day-Day
Among the most beautiful canyons in western Colorado, Slickrock Canyon features steep sandstone cliffs, sometimes over 1200 feet high, winding through a rugged and isolated area.
