Cortez Colorado - Fishing

Fish are plentiful in nearby McPhee Reservoir, which is stocked with rainbow trout, Kokanee salmon, bluegill, channel catfish, large and small mouth bass, and crappie. Other fishing options include the Dolores River, Narraguinnep Reservoir, and the streams and mountain lakes in the San Juan Mountains.



Animas River
The Animas River flows south out of the San Juan mountains, passing through Durango and into New Mexico. It is popular among anglers for its great trout fishing.

Dolores River
The Dolores River offers great catch-and-release trout fishing in a remote and beautiful part of Colorado.

Mancos Lake Size:  216 acres   
Mancos State Park offers trout fishing and wakeless boating at reservoir surrounded by the majestic San Juan Mountains.

McPhee Reservoir Lake Size:  7 square miles   
McPhee State Park is a mid-sized reservoir near Cortez, with convenient access to the Dolores River.
