Pueblo is located in Southern Colorado along the southern edge of the state’s major growth corridor. Historically a transportation junction, the city lies 110 miles south of Denver at the crossroads of two major highways - Interstate 25 and U.S. Highway 50. Lake Pueblo State Park - Located at the northwestern edge of Pueblo County and easily accessed by I-25 and Highway 50, Lake Pueblo State Park is one of the premier recreation destinations in Colorado. Known for its 4,646 surface acres of water for boating and highly regarded as a warm-water fishery, the park is a major destination for weekend travelers within the state and vacationers throughout the country. Greenway & Nature Center of Pueblo - The Greenway & Nature Center of Pueblo is located in beautiful Rock Canyon on the banks of the Arkansas River. A delicate blend of aquatic, riparian, transition and semiarid grassland habitats provide homes to a wealth of plants and animals. The Grounds suit a variety of activities which include; picnicking, wildlife viewing, fishing, kayaking and nature walks under the Cottonwoods. Royal Gorge Route Railroad - Experience everything the Royal Gorge has to offer by rail. See the Royal Gorge Bridge hanging over 1,000 feet above the train, the raging Arkansas River, wildlife and scenery found only on the train. The train ride is 2-hours in duration (3-hours for dinner trains), covers 24-miles and travels directly through the Royal Gorge. Colorado Springs - Colorado Springs is the second-largest city in Colorado, with half a million people living in the metro area. Under the snow-capped majesty of Pike's Peak at the edge of the Rockies, Colorado Springs provides a less-crowded alternative to Denver and easy access to a number of nearby natural wonders. La Junta - La Junta is situated along the Arkansas River in the rolling grasslands of southeastern Colorado. Nearby historical pioneer and Native American sites, a large stretch of preserved dinosaur tracks, and several warm-water lakes and reservoirs are all nearby.
