Big Dominguez Campground

Big Dominguez Campground is nestled among ponderosa pine, cottonwood trees and willows, next to the Dominguez Canyon Wilderness Study Area and the Uncompaghre National Forest. Beautiful red canyon country surrounds you with opportunities for hiking and horseback riding. Big Dominguez Creek runs through the campground year round and is very popular for fishing. The area provides valuable wildlife habitat for desert bighorn sheep, deer, elk, mountain lion, black bear, wild turkey and chukar. Off-highway vehicles and mountain bikes are NOT allowed in the adjoining wilderness study area, however, there are areas nearby that are open to such activities.

Travel 11.5 miles to the Divide Road turn off (Uncompaghre National Forest Access Road) on your left. The road winds and switchbacks to the top of the mountain. At the top stay on the main road until you come to a fork in the road. At the fork, follow the signs to Dominguez Conservation Area (left).
